Dr. Ifediora Chimezie Amobi

Dr. Ifediora Chimezie Amobi is a respected policy economist, adviser and consultant to governments and agencies with a professional career that started in 1985 as an Economist with the US Department of Housing and Urban Development in Washington,DC.

He is currently the Executive Director and Secretary to the Governing Council at Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA) in Awka where he facilitates business partnerships between Anambra State and private sector investors.

He was the Executive Director and CEO at African Heritage Institution, an economic research think tank, where he planned, directed, coordinated and managed all the technical and administrative activities of the Institution. Dr. Amobi also served in different capacities including Senior Special Assistant to the President of Nigeria on National Development Matters, assisting the Vice President in guiding policy direction regarding national economic and sustainable development issues in the country.

He was one-time Investment Policy Adviser for the UK Department for International Development (DFID) funded programme, Growth and Employment in States (GEMS3) and Managing Consultant/Executive Director of Skoup and Company Limited, an economic consulting firm in Enugu. Dr. Amobi was an Economist at the World Bank in Washington, DC and spent the next twelve years both as a Manager at Citibank Nigeria and a Strategy Manager at Accenture in Lagos.

He is a recipient of the admired Omicron Delta Epsilon (Economics Honor) Award, and was the Chairman of the Presidential Committee on the Arbitration of the Loan Dispute between Plateau and Nasarawa State; Chairman, Economic and Finance Committee of the League of Anambra Professionals; Member, Presidential Technical Committee on Cassava Production; Member, Nigeria Vision 20:2020 National Steering Committee; Member, Joint Planning Committee of the Nigerian Economic Summit; Member, Nigerian Economic Society, South East Nigeria Economic Commission, and the American Economic Association. He is currently a part-time lecturer of Economics and International Financial
System at the ESUT Business School in Enugu.

He attended the prestigious Dennis Memorial Grammar School, Onitsha, and holds a B.Sc. in Economics from Nebraska Wesleyan University, M.A. in Economics from Clemson University, and is a 1992 Ph.D. graduate of International Economics from Howard University, Washington, DC, USA.
