Judith Okonkwo is the founder of Imisi 3D – an Extended Reality (AR/VR) creation lab dedicated to growing a community of AR/VR developers in Nigeria, creating solutions using AR/VR, and providing educational and engagement experiences with AR/VR. Imisi 3D emerged from Judith’s unwavering commitment to changing the technology narrative of Nigeria from being mere consumers of technology to becoming creators of it.
Believing in the huge potential for AR/VR as a tool for creating everyday solutions, Imisi 3D is focused on building a community of AR/VR Content Creators and Enthusiasts in Nigeria by providing the tools, direction and support needed to kickstart their journey and enhance experience. In keeping with this believe, Imisi 3D held Nigeria’s first virtual reality hackathon in 2016 and has gone on to initiate the local AR/VR community meetup. As well as consulting for organisations, the lab provides learning opportunities and access to XR resources for developers and enthusiasts, while enabling engagement and adoption by the wider community.
A Technology Evangelist, Business Psychologist and Organisation Development Consultant with strong experience working in Africa, Asia and Europe, Judith is a shining star among women techpreneurs from Africa. She sits on the Board of the European Organisation Design Forum, and advises Startups, not-for-profits and SMEs on emerging technologies.
The creator of the Oriki Coaching Model™ is also a guest lecturer at the Lagos Business School, Nigeria and University of Westminster, UK. She is the co-founder of We Will Lead Africa, a movement sharing the stories of everyday leadership across the continent. Judith is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society. She is the convener of AR/VR Africa, a trans-African platform for XR professionals reputed for hosting the largest African AR/VR event so far in April 2018 – a hackathon held across 7 countries.
